Sheriff Bill Signing Act 137

Governor Neil Abercrombie held a special ceremony today to highlight the signing of Act 137.

NEW BARGAINING UNIT IS CREATED FOR STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, STATE AND COUNTY OCEAN SAFETY AND WATER SAFETY OFFICERS — Governor Neil Abercrombie held a special ceremony today to highlight the signing of Act 137. The purpose of this act is to establish Collective Bargaining Unit 14 to represent state law enforcement officers and ocean and water safety officer.

“By establishing a separate bargaining unit for deputy sheriffs, water safety and conservation enforcement officers, it will enable them to more easily address their specialized needs,” said Governor Neil Abercrombie, “These specialized needs include fitness and equipment requirements, improved salaries, benefits and working conditions”.
