UPDATE: MISSING OCCC WORK FURLOUGH INMATE BACK IN CUSTODY

HONOLULU — O‘ahu Community Correctional Center (OCCC) work furlough inmate Jason S. Takaki was returned to custody at approximately 7:50 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2025, after state sheriff’s deputies apprehended him in Kaimukī.


Takaki, 45, left Module 20 on a job-seeking pass Friday morning, March 21, 2025, and was supposed to return by 2 p.m. that day. Sheriffs and the Honolulu Police Department were notified.


Takaki is serving time for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, forgery and theft. He may now face a second-degree escape charge, a Class C felony that is punishable by up to five years in prison, if convicted.


Takaki is a community custody inmate in the work furlough program with pass privileges. Community custody is the lowest classification status.
